Many monthly record high temperatures were set for April, including 112° F at Palm Springs on 4.7, 106° F at LA on this day, 105° F at Lompoc, 104° F at Riverside on this day, 103° F at Santa Maria, 103° F at Escondido on 4.7, 102° F at Santa Ana on this day, 101° F at Santa Barbara and Tustin on this day, 98° F at San Diego on this day, and 76° F at Big Bear Lake on 4.7 and 4.8.
1989: Earliest triple digit high temperature on record at China Lake NAS, 102° F.
1986: A funnel cloud was observed at Gillespie Field, El Cajon.
1955: A tornado touched down north of Moreno Valley.
1926: A waterspout came ashore in National City resulting in the most damaging tornado on record in San Diego County.
Eight were injured and roofs were torn off homes.
In Santa Ana 3.52" of rain fell and in Riverside 2.34" of rain fell, each the greatest daily amount on record for April.
1871: San Francisco received 1.28" of rain.
