USGS: 5.6 magnitude earthquake hits 3 miles off the coast of Petrolia; No Tsunami Warning

PETROLIA, Calif. — A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck three miles off the coast of Petrolia Saturday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The National Weather Service (NWS) says there is no tsunami warning, advisory, watch or threat as a result of the quake.
The earthquake hit 3 miles south-southwest of Petrolia, about 37 miles south of Eureka, at 8:53 p.m. pacific time at a depth of 5.9 miles. Several people have reported feeling the quake. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has received no reports of any damage or injuries.
Officials ask the public to call 911 only if it is an emergency. Check back for updates.
