On This Date In California Weather History....

1999: A late winter storm that started on 4.1 and ended on this day brought snow to the region.
Seven to nine inches fell at Pine Valley and Descanso, two inches at Boulevard, "heavy snow" was reported at Cherry Valley (3000 feet), and one inch at Homeland (1,700 feet). Eight illegal immigrants were found dead near Descanso and two more just over the border.
50 survived wearing only light clothing and tennis shoes and had never experienced snow; they had been on foot for 3 days.
A funnel cloud was observed three miles west of La Jolla.

1997: Two day Mono Wind event brought winds as high as 70 mph to the southern Sierra Nevada and foothills.
A number of trees fell and struck buildings and cars in Yosemite National Park and roof damage occurred near
Bass Lake. A number of power lines also fell between Yosemite and Mariposa.

1997: A funnel cloud was observed five miles west of Lindbergh Field - San Diego.

1968: 2.72 inches of precipitation fell in Idyllwild, the greatest daily amount on record for April.

1963:
It was 3° in Big Bear Lake, the lowest temperature on record for April.

1958: 13.0 inches of snow fell at Glenbrook.

1958: A heavy rainstorm struck the northern Inland Empire on this day and on 4.3.
2.80 inches fell in San Bernardino and 2.25 inches in Redlands.
Heavy runoff caused flooding in San Bernardino, Fontana and in Hesperia-Apple Valley.
Creeks exceeded banks and numerous roads were blocked by water, mud and boulders.
A tornado ripped a roof off a garage in eastern San Bernardino.
