On This Date In California Weather History.....
2009: Strong onshore winds produced a gust of over 70 mph in Lucerne Valley, 57 mph in Desert Hot Springs and 53 mph in Palm Springs.
The high winds resulted in downed power lines and minor roof damage.
A 50 acre brush fire in Palm Springs damaged two homes and led to the evacuation of 50 other homes.
The fire began in the late afternoon, burning desert scrub near a residential neighborhood and was contained later that evening.
1999: An F0 tornado touched down in south Bakersfield blowing down a few trees and damaging a small shed.
1999: A waterspout was observed three miles southwest of Oceanside.
1965: One inch of snow fell in Randsburg in the Kern County desert.
1961: It was 103° in Riverside, the earliest date in the season on record to hit 100° or higher.
It was 85° in Idyllwild, the highest temperature on record for April.
This also occurred on 4.27.2004 and 4.28.2004.
1958: A small tornado was observed in Fresno.
1958: A heavy rainstorm struck the northern Inland Empire on 4.2 and on this day.
2.80 inches fell in San Bernardino and 2.25 inches in Redlands.
Heavy runoff caused flooding in San Bernardino, Fontana and in Hesperia-Apple Valley.
Creeks exceeded banks and numerous roads were blocked by water, mud and boulders.
1958: 44.0 inches of snow fell at Truckee, with 42.0 inches being reported at Tahoe City.
1945: It was 20° in Victorville, the lowest temperature on record for April.
1928: Fresno began a 214 day stretch without measurable rain, the longest such streak on record here.
