On This Date In California Weather History....
2003: 1.16 inches of rain fell in Victorville, the greatest daily amount on record for April.
2002: A cold front generated strong winds across the Kern County deserts with Mojave clocking a 104 mph gust.
1988: 1.53 inches of rain fell in 24 hours in Death Valley, about three-quarters of the average annual rainfall.
Normal for the season is 2.33 inches (1971-2000 normal).
April average is only 0.12 inch.
1978: The Padres' home game against the San Francisco Giants was rained out at (then) San Diego Stadium.
1970: The list-owner was born in Pasadena, CA, thus commenced a life that would grow to become obsessed with the weather of California as well as its weather disasters. ;-)
