Community Emergency Response Team Training Offered
KEYT-TV Santa Barbara Anchor
Are you prepared for the next disaster? There is a community wide effort under way to get more local residents to take a more active role in emergency preparedness. A role that could make the difference between life and death.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training courses are now being offered throughout Santa Barbara and Goleta including U.C.S.B.
CERT participants are trained to serve as part of neighborhood or workplace response teams in the event of a major disaster, when emergency services may not be available and when residents may have to rely on each other for life-saving and life-sustaining needs.
The free course is as much hands on as it is classroom so participants are kept active and interested and it ends with a mock disaster drill. You must be 18 years or older.
Goleta CERT training:
Wednesday Evenings 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Goleta Valley Community Center
5679 Hollister Avenue
Santa Barbara CERT training:
Wednesday Evenings 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Fire Station #1
121 W. Carrillo Street
UCSB CERT training:
Thursday Evenings 6:00pm - 9:00pm
UCSB Environmental Health & Safety
Building 565
