I think we might be able to say: 'The lava is actually the least dangerous part of the volcano!'

Probably not true in every case, probably are some exceptions. But if we look at nuee ardentes, at debris flows, or just the ash and breathing it (I think one geologist camped out seemingly a safe distance from Mount St. Helen's died when ash clogged his lungs).

Yes, I think in most cases, the lava is the least dangerous part of a volcano.
