[californiadisasters] FW: Another CME Heads for Earth

The one we're going through now was an X5.4 flare (BIG) and it grazed us. A
second flare is giving us a G3 magnetic storm. This (below) will slap us.

If you're in the north state, keep your eyes to the north the next few
nights (before moonrise) if your area is cloud free. Increased aurora has
been occurring nightly (and daily, but it's harder to see). Oooh, pretty.

While the increased sunspots make for great conditions for ham radio
operators, these flares make nothing work on radio for us on the lower
bands. However currently some Europeans hams are chatting with South
Africans hams on the 144 MHz band (normally a 100 or so mile short range
band). So if you hear distant FM stations on your radio, now you know why.

In the days of analog TV, watching far away stations was possible too, not
so likely with HDTV (much higher frequency band).
