03/09/2012 | 0900 | The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Special Weather Statement that confidence remains above normal for next week's storm to produce several inches of precipitation for interior northern California, and that the forecasted mountain snow will be wetter and heavier than previous storms this year. To date, the snow that we have received in the eastern mountains of the GACC has had a Snow Water Equivalent of less than 50% of Normal. |
03/09/2012 | 0815 | The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued flash flood warnings for all of Kauai, sections of Maui and Oahu, and flood warnings for Lanai, Molokai, and Nihau. Previously this week, the Govenor of Hawaii issued a Disaster Declaration for the islands of Kauai and Oahu due to the March 3 - 6 heavy rains and flooding. As mentioned in the North Ops March 2012 Monthly Fire Weather / Fire Danger Outlook, much of the Hawaiian Islands have had below-normal precipitation, drought conditions, and Above-Normal Fire Potential. The geographic range of Region 5 covers California, Hawaii, and many of the South Pacific Islands. |
