Deer Fire as seen and described by Craig Hayes
KSBY-TV San Luis ObispoPosted: Jul 11, 2015 10:45 AM PST Updated: Jul 11, 2015 10:45 AM PST
Yesterday, around 12:30 PM. a fire started just a few miles due west from the ranch. The Hacienda is a waypoint for aircraft flying between the coast & Paso Robles so attack planes & helicopters flew directly overhead the remainder of the day. Flights continue this morning. Netty & I sat on the deck with a glass of wine and watched the show as the sun set. Fire is a constant threat to those of us who live rurally in California. Great job by our fire fighting teams! (clicking any picture will make it larger)
The fire begins. Billows of black smoke back-dropped by the coastal marine layer.
Attack plane over the Hacienda.
Chopper with water drop bucket.
No, it's not Mars, merely a beautiful sunset through the smoke.
A chopper picks up water from Las Tablas area of lake Nacimiento. What appears to be smoke is water escaping via the "Venturi effect".
