Just back from the 6 p.m. operational briefing for the night shift. We also have updated stats for the King Fire.
The fire grew to almost 28,000 acres, moving mostly to the north, where it advanced several miles in some places. "A very active day." Fire activity started early and kept up all day largely because of low overnight humidity and gusty winds.
Firefighters made very good progress on the south side, but the fire grew significantly in other places so we are still at 5% containment. Many more firefighting resources arrived for a total of 3,367 personnel. Take a look at the inciweb page for the King Fire for more detailed information, including the official update which is being written and approved now.

We will have an updated map to post in the morning.
