New start in Central California on Friday (9-5). The "Bridge Fire" was first reported just after 13:00 local in the Chowchilla River Basin near William Sell bridge. The fire has forced the closure of all roads in the Ponderosa Basin as well as Harris Cutoff Road. Fire is threatening 700 homes in the area and has forced evacuations in the Ponderosa Basin, Highway 49 was closed for a time today but is now reopened with pilot car. Tankers have had trouble working the fire at times with smoke obscuring potential drop areas near homes. Fire was last reported at around 300 acres, Tankers were diverted for a time do to a new start. Tankers working the fire: DC-7 #60, DC-10's #910,#911,#912. Four(4) S2T's were reported on the fire as well, no numbers were given. Should have been #76,#78,#82 and #83 (not confirmed). Reload: Columbia (S2's), Fresno. DC-10's Castle. If not mistaken this is the first ever fire worked by all three active DC-10 Tankers.
