6,300 acres with only 6% containment. Fire has reached the valley floor and has forced the evacuation of homes in Summit Valley and Hesperia, the evacuation effects about 375 residents. Evacuations are for Santa Fe Ave, Lake Arrowhead Dr and areas South of Ranchero Rd.
There are also voluntary evacuations for an additional 5,000 residents in Hesperia. For the second straight night the fire will be worked by Helicopters overnight as the fire is now burning in less rugged terrain that could cause problems for the choppers.
Heavy Smoke for the fire is impacting air quality in the Apple Valley, Hesperia and Barstow area. Drift smoke may be as far Northeast as Las Vegas,Nv.
Tankers remain the same: Erickson Aero's DC-7 Tanker #60 worked the fire today out of San Bernardino. She has since returned to Paso Robles Tonight.
