Because there is almost none. This may set a SoCal record for first day growth (not one you want).
As I shut it down here (had video and local scanners), there were two orders outstanding for Type III engines (wildland) totaling 75 engines (plus team leaders, another 15 pick ups, each engine has at least 3 staffing), after ordering many multiples of Type I (structure) with the phrase 'immediate need' which means it's bad.
Early on, the order went out for 5 engines, any type, closest which is fire-speak meaning "the fecal matter has FULLY embraced the ventilating device!!!" (Help needed right fracking NOW!!!)
This one is bad. Spotting by plume, in ALL directions, wind driven and intense. This will take a while and it will hurt.
Expect HUGE orders tonight.
Then there is a new start in Kern that's running hard too, while the Clayton winds up (at least they made an arrest; the town wants to have a meet and greet with him; the $5M bail will keep him safer tho).
2-3 more months to go!

as of around 8.30 pm, official report is over / around 15000 acres, and they didn't show containment number at that time
