On this day Palm Springs and Thermal reached 122° F, which tied or set new June records and came within one degree of the all-time highest temperature on record.
In Borrego Springs it was 120° F, two degrees off the highest all-time.
2011: Strong, cold low pressure system moved over the area bringing record low temperatures and high precipitation to the San Joaquin Valley, southern Sierra Nevada, and nearby foothills. Temperatures were around 15° F below the 30 year average at Fresno and Bakersfield; Fresno set a new record low maximum temperature for this date (old record was 77° F; this was set back in 1982).
Some locations in the Sierra Nevada and nearby foothills received over 2" of rain in 24 hours.
1994: The minimum temperature was 78° F in Palomar Mountain, the highest minimum temperature on record.
This also occurred on 7.11.2003 and 8.10.1978.
It was 121° F in Palm Springs, the highest temperature on record for June.
This also occurred on 6.24.1957 and 6.26.1957.
1994: Nevada's all-time record high temperature of 125° F was recorded at Laughlin.
1994: Lake Havasu City records the all time record high for the state of Arizona at 128° F. .
1986: A tropical heat wave produced temperatures of 96° F in Santee, 93° F in Escondido, and only 91° F in El Centro.
Attendance records were broken at the Del Mar Fair.
1972: It was 99° F in Palomar Mountain, the highest temperature on record for June.
This also occurred the next day on 6.30.
1952: Ben Lomond picked up 1.45" of rain -- a record for the month.
1924: The high temperature at Sierraville 101° F, and at Reno it was 100° F.
1920: Reno recorded 1.68" of rain.
1907: End of 11 day stretch of triple digit highs in Bakersfield, longest such streak on record in June.
