The "Washington Fire" has grown by about 6,000 acres over the last 24 hours. Fire this evening (6-21) is being reported at 6,500 acres with little or no containment. Fire may be even larger than this as better mapping will take place tomorrow. The fire was pushed by very strong winds that grounded all aerial resources today, fire was pushed by gusts up to 40mph at times. Fire continues to torch and make strong uphill runs. Fire has now burned into Bagley Valley and has jumped to the North side of highway 89. Both highway 89 over Moniter Pass and highway 4 over Ebbitts Pass remain closed tonight. The town of Markleeville is on standby for possible evacuation, five homes and 15 historic cabins remain threatened, over 200 homes in the Double Springs subdivision are also threatened. Monday (6-22) firefighter are hoping that the winds calm so that aerial operations can be conducted. Current aircraft assigned to the fire are: P2V #07. RJ85 #161 (at Castle,CA). S.E.A.T.S #809,#810,#866. Currently S.E.A.T #810 is at Reno/Stead while S.E.A.T.S #809 AND #866 are at Minden/Tahoe. Minden/Tahoe will be the helicopter and S.E.A.T. base for this fire.
