1. July 28, 1908 Bakersfield has a record high of 118 degrees, the highest temperature recorded in the central/southern San Joaquin Valley.

2. September 30, 1932 Flash flooding at Woodford Station kills 15 people; train washed off tracks between Woodford Sta. and Tehachapi.

3. December 20, 1977 Dust storm in the southern San Joaquin Valley; gusts estimated to 200 mph near Arvin, stripping paint off cars.

4. February 19, 1980 F1 tornado hits the terminal building at the Fresno Air Terminal.
 
5. November 29, 1991 Dust storm near Coalinga causes a 104-vehicle pile-up. 14people killed.

6. March 9, 1995 Arroyo Pasajero flash flood washes out the bridge carrying Interstate 5. Several vehicles plunged into the Arroyo, killing 6 people.

7. November 22, 1996 Four tornadoes hit the central/south San Joaquin Valley in one day. (Also on February 27, 2000.)

8. January 1-3, 1997 Yosemite Valley flash flooding causes $178 million in damages to the Park infrastructure.

9. November 14, 1998 74-vehicle pile-up in dense fog. 2 people killed.

10. December 18-22, 1998 Hard freeze causes $600 million in crop damage.

11. January 25, 1999 Measurable snow on the San Joaquin Valley floor, including up to 6 inches in east Bakersfield.

12. July 16-27, 2006 Heat wave caused 46 deaths.
The low temperature at Fresno on July 23 was 90 degrees, setting a record highest minimum temperature for the city.

13. January 12-18, 2007 Hard freeze causes $1 billion in crop damage.

14. November 3, 2007 A series of chain-reaction accidents in dense fog involved a total of 87 vehicles. 2 people were killed.

15. January 21, 2010 Strong storm drops barometric pressure to 28.95 inches at Bakersfield, and 28.96 inches at Fresno. (Lowest on record).
