I've been compiling a set of images of the current Merapi eruption. These are available
at :http://www.montserratvolcano.org/Merapi.htm
I hope that both teachers and researchers will find these useful and save themselves rummaging through Google Images and countless press photo galleries.
The first page concentrates on the actual eruption and the damage it has done to trees, buildings etc. The second page details the injuries to both people and livestock, and also some rather gruesome photos of corpses. These are necessary for both medical and those involved in disaster planning and rescue operations in similar situations. They detail the differences between death by burning (external and internal) by hot pyroclastic surge and asphyxiation (hypoxia) by dust-laden "cool" surge, as detailed in the papers of Peter Baxter and others.
