| 10/28 | 0900 | A 3.9-magnitude earthquake hit near the Newhall area Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor first registered as a 3.8 but was quickly upgraded to a 3.9 by USGS. It struck about 4 miles east-southeast of Newhall, 5 miles north-northwest of San Fernando with a depth of about .5 miles. There have been no reports of injuries or damage. |
| 10/27 | 0800 | Family, friends and colleagues of the men of U.S. Forest Service Engine 57 gathered yesterday, as they do every year, at the Octagon House in Twin Palms where the firefighters were overrun with flames on Oct. 26, 2006, during the first hours of the arson-sparked Esperanza. So for Lotzy, Jess, Jason, Daniel and Pablo – take a moment this week and never forget Engine 57 and all of those who have lost their lives doing what they enjoyed. |
