Our group, on Yahoo Group, can be found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cfrrg/ We started out meeting once a week in Lakeside, CA Right away, we decided we were not going to be called Victims. We were survivors and rebuilders. Our meetings included comparing notes, speakers to give us ideas about rebuilding. Solar was a big thing in San Diego County and they had a program just for us, so they came out. We also had what might be called Grief Counselors. Our group also had George Kehrer of Care Help work with us on our insurance claims. You should be telling everyone about CareHelp that has been through a disaster. Their site is at http://carehelp.org/ In their website: CARe was created in response to the 1994 Northridge Earthquake and devoted its first seven years to helping survivors navigate the often difficult road to recovery. Due to the overwhelming number of claims resulting from the earthquake, we honed our knowledge of the insurance claim process. Since that time, CARe has helped tens of thousands of survivors devastated by a range of natural disasters: from hurricanes in the Southeast and tornadoes in the Midwest, to Southwest wildfires and California firestorms. As a result of our work after the 2007 Southern California wildfires, more than 40 million dollars above policy limits has been reclaimed from reluctant insurers into fire-devastated communities.
Glad to share,
