10/24/2010 | 0720 | Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 13 fires for 3 acres reported in the Daily Situation Report, (there may be a 24-hour delay in reporting on the SIT report). Sunday's system will bring rainfall amounts up to several inches in some areas, and that may cause rather high water levels in some rivers/streams/ drainages. Rather strong southerly winds will continue with the passage of Sunday's system, with fairly widespread sustained wind speeds of 12-25 mph with gusts 30-45 mph expected in the exposed areas. Local gusts to around 50 are also expected, mostly in the higher elevations. The snow level will remain quite high, no lower than about 7000 ft throughout the main precipitation event. Decreasing rain and wind will arrive Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will be in between systems Another wet weather system may arrive about Thursday. Light snowfall was reported on Saturday in several locations in the GACC. |
10/23/2010 | 0711 | Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 18 fires for 31 acres reported in the Daily Situation Report, (there may be a 24-hour delay in reporting on the SIT report). There are 6 small fires being managed to achieve multiple objectives (ENF). Several stronger cold fronts will move through this weekend...with precipitation becoming heavier and more widespread with strong S to W winds. Most areas will see 1 to 2 inches of rainfall totals by the end of the weekend...with some of the higher coastal mountains and the west slope of the Sierra/Cascades getting locally 3-5 inches of rainfall. Snow levels will be fairly high, but could briefly drop to near 6000 feet on Saturday morning and again by Sunday afternoon. Gradual drying early next week, but another storm possible by next Thursday. |
10/22/2010 | 0714 | Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 7 fires for 1 acre reported in the Daily Situation Report, (there may be a 24-hour delay in reporting on the SIT report). . Several more, stronger cold fronts will move through Friday through Sunday...with precipitation becoming heavier and more widespread through the weekend with moderate to locally strong S to W winds. Most areas will see over an inch of rainfall totals by the end of the weekend...with some wetter areas seing 2-4 inches of total rainfall. Snow levels will be fairly high, but could briefly drop to near 6000 ft on Saturday. |
