[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (June 11)



2009: Dense fog in the mountains near San Bernardino resulted in multiple car accidents.
Two multiple-car pileups occurred in the Cajon Pass on I-15.
At least 30 vehicles were involved, and 15 injuries were reported.
Along Highway 18, two related accidents occurred in the dense fog, resulting in one indirect death.

1979: Bakersfield set back-to-back daily record high temperatures on the 11th and 12th of June, with 109° F and 110° F respectively.

1979: Five consecutive days of high temperatures at 90° F or higher at San Diego started on 6.9 and ended on 6.13, peaking with 101° on 6.10.
Minimum temperatures were between 69° F and 72° F.
It was 105° F in Escondido, the highest temperature on record for June.
This also occurred on 6.18.1957 and 6. 26.1994.
It was 110° F in Riverside on this day and on 6.12.

1927: Torrential rain caused a flash flood that washed out the Mt. Rose Highway just below the dam on Browns Creek (NV).

1918: Saint Helena had a high temperature of 107
° F.

1877: Los Angeles soared to an unofficial all-time high of 112° F which was not broken until September 27, 2010, when it hit 113° F.
