Cal Poly professor's creation getting attention following earthquake

A civil and environmental engineering professor at Cal Poly has been getting a lot of calls since the earthquake up by Napa. That's because he created a system to prevent stacked wine barrels from toppling during an earthquake.

We first introduced you to Charles Chadwell back in 2006 when he gave us a demonstration of the new technology. It uses a ball bearing system that allows the earth to move beneath the stack, reducing the risk of falling barrels.

On Tuesday, Chadwell said the recession put the project on hold for a few years, but he started working on it again about a year ago. He is working with Western Square Industries in Stockton to produce and sell the Seismic Support System. Chadwell says they have received a lot of interest in the system since Sunday's quake.
