Fire growth was mainly driven by a westerly wind pattern that later in the day shifted to northwest. This wind shift aligned with the Grider Creek drainage increasing fire behavior. |
08/29/2014 | 1800 | CA-KNF July Complex: 39,557 acres, 73% contained. Whites Fire 33,680 acres, 85% contained. The Mule Bridge drainage continues low intensity backing fire into the drainage. Patrol and mop up has reduced the number of hot spots showing along the perimeter. Man Fire 2,228 acres, 0% contained. Indirect line construction continues in preparation for burning operations. |

08/29/2014 | 0730 | CA-KNF Happy Camp Complex; 44,649 acres, 20% contained. Light westerly winds pushed the fire toward the east and into Grider Creek. Fire behavior continued to pick up well into the night. The Frying Pan Fire and the Faulkstein Fire have merged. Fire behavior is expected to be similar today as it was yesterday. Evacuation orders and advisories remain in effect. |

Whites Fire 33,680 acres, 85% contained; creeping and smoldering fire behavior. Man Fire 2,228 acres 0% contained; active surface fire and tree torching. Fire continues to burn actively in the Wooley Creek and Big Elk Fork drainages. Fire is also moving east/northeast toward Jewel Lake. |
