Magnitude-4.0 earthquake strikes near Fremont early Tuesday morning

An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 4.0 struck near Fremont on Tuesday morning.
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.0 struck near Fremont early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. There were no initial reports of damage, but residents around the Bay Area reported feeling the quake.
The USGS said the quake struck near Fremont at 2:41 a.m., with the epicenter 2 miles north-northeast of Fremont.
Two smaller quakes were reported following the initial temblor, according to the USGS. Those quakes had initial magnitudes of 2.6 and 2.7 and were also centered near Fremont.
BART is reporting systemwide delays while inspections are performed on tracks after the quakes.
