French, CA-SNF-001619 Rock Creek Campground, Madera County

FRA

5,622 acres, 0% Contained

Cooper's Type 2 IMT team in command

28 structures remain threatened.

This closure is for the section of 4S81 between Redinger Overlook and Arch Rock.

The Grizzly road between 5S07 and road 4S81 and road 7s07 off of the 8s09 road.

Power remains out in the Mammoth Pool Area.

Service power lines have been damaged with additional threatened.

A total of 12 campgrounds have been evacuated.

Spotted Owl and Pacific Fisher habitats has been damaged or destroyed.

San Joaquin air pollution control district continues to monitor air quality.

Impacts have been reported as far south as Bakersfield.

Potential for extreme fire behavior on all flanks of the fire due to instability

of the atmosphere, shifting winds and high temperatures are still a concern.

These factors, combined with the shortage of critical resources, could lead

to significant fire growth and increased resource threat.

El Portal Fire, CA-YNP-0083 Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co.

Location: Near Highway 140 and community of El Portal,

FRA

CIIMT 5 (Joseph).

3,900 Acres, 34% contained.

Big Oak Flat Road was opened today.

Continued evacuation of Foresta.

Damage assessment, community of Foresta completed.

(2 residential structures destroyed in one location previously identified as 1 location.)

Under an unstable air mass, the fire moved 1/2 mile to Northwest

demonstrating active fire behavior with spotting.

As fire moved toward Crane Flat, road closure

of Highway 120 expanded to include Crane Flat.

Commitment of forest service air and ground resources.

 

Dark Hole Fire, CA-YNP-0057, Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co.

Location Yosemite Creek south of Tioga Rd, 1.5 miles south of Yosemite Creek CG

FRA

CIIMT 5 (Joseph)

647 acres, 5% contained
Yosemite Creek campground remains closed.

Low to minimal fire activity with only isolated tree torching.

Night Ops restricted to fire monitoring only due to steep terrain and hazards.

A large thunderstorm set up over the fire today that produced hail.

Fire remains unstaffed at night.

Commitment of forest service ground resources.

Location Yosemite Creek south of Tioga Rd, 1.5 miles south of Yosemite Creek CG

Yosemite Creek campground remains closed.

Night operations restricted to fire monitoring due to

steep terrain and hazards presented by falling trees and snags.

Fire has the potential to be influenced by evening thunderstorms

Predicted for the Sierra crest.
