El Portal Fire, CA-YNP-0083 Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co. Location: Near Highway 140 and community of El Portal, FRA CIIMT 5 (Joseph). 3,545 Acres, 34% contained. Continued closure of Big Oak Flat Road. Continued evacuation of Foresta. Continue mop-up and mitigation of hazards in the community of Foresta. Construct hand and dozer lines. Preparations are being made for potential firing operations. Commitment of forest service air and ground resources.

Location Yosemite Creek south of Tioga Rd, 1.5 miles south of Yosemite Creek CG FRA CIIMT 5 (Joseph) 647 acres, 5% contained Night operations restricted to fire monitoring due to steep terrain and hazards presented by falling trees and snags. Fire has the potential to be influenced by evening thunderstorms Predicted for the Sierra crest. Commitment of forest service ground resources. |

Threat to cultural and natural resources and residences in Kinsman Flat area. Nine Forest Service and three private campgrounds have been evacuated. Timber and spotted owl and Pacific fisher habitat have been damaged. Priority Suppression Objective is to develop anchor on left flank for protection of residential Areas at the Hogue Ranch and Kinsman Flat area. Commitment of Forest Service personnel on fire.

Road Closures: 10S18 Rd- the section of road between Ross Cabin and Grizzly Cutoff Rd. Service power lines have been damaged and more are threatened. Power lines in the area have been deactivated.

Continued closure of Big Oak Flat Road. Evacuations continued of communities of and Foresta. Repopulation of evacuees from the community of El Portal will begin 0900. Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias within Yosemite National Park still threatened. Commitment of forest service air and ground resources.
Dark Hole Fire, CA-YNP-0057, Yosemite National Park, Mariposa Co. Location Yosemite Creek south of Tioga Rd, 1.5 miles south of Yosemite Creek CG FRA CIIMT 5 (Joseph) 590 acres, 5% contained Fire is being suppressed by constructing handline and using MIST tactics. Fire behavior was minimal with creeping and smoldering in understory. Occasional fire encountered receptive fuel beds. Aircraft continue to be used to assist firefighters with water drops when needed. Commitment of forest service ground resources.
