RE: [californiadisasters] question about cyclones pacific northwest



I’m sure someone has it (www.nws.gov might be a starting point to look).  I’m sure it happens but not to the extent of the east coast.  Besides, if Seattle was getting rain, who’d notice? ;-D

The left coast DOES get impacted, but only once a decade or so, then not very much.  The conditions aren’t ‘right’ for storms of that magnitude here.  The energy required to maintain those storms doesn’t exist as it does for storms originating in [sub]tropical Africa, then traveling across the warm water.

I am just curious if there is any historical data regarding a tropical storm cyclone strength affecting the pacific northwest like the hurricanes do on the east coast?
