Northern California weather continued stormy pattern today thru the weekend...as one storm system departs and another approaches. Overall, moderate to locally heavy precipitation is expected across all of Northern CA over the next 3 days with gusty SW winds in many areas. Snow levels generally 3000-4000 ft with additional significant accumulations. High pressure should build in with a drying trend early next week....with drier and much warmer conditions.
As each storm comes through; there will be a peak on the main-stem rivers and some peaking above flood stage. River elevations will remain high after the rain ends, as area reservoirs increase releases to lower reservoir levels, which will fill in behind local inflows. Expect some urban and small stream flooding more closely related to the timing of the rain event. Beyond early next week warmer temperatures are expected; in the normal range. At this time temperatures capable of producing rapid snow melt are not anticipated. For snow accumulations and conditions check out this website http://www.onthesnow.com/california/skireport.html |
03/25 | 0800 | Scattered light showers will linger across much of southern California this morning, but additional precipitation amounts will be light. Expect partly to mostly cloudy conditions most of the day with temperatures 10-15 degrees below normal. Another storm system will arrive Saturday afternoon, bringing light precipitation to central California Saturday evening and southern California Saturday night. Since this system is weaker and further north, precipitation will be very light. Dry, but cool weather can be expected Sunday. A much warmer weather pattern is expected to develop next week with high temperatures rising to above normal by next Wednesday. Some offshore winds may be possible during the second half of next week. |
