Light IA, with some activity in the GACC mostly in valleys below 3000' ft

all contained. Predicated weather Hot & Dry with getting into the 90s

and minimum humidity will be mainly in the single digits and teens.

Santa Catalina Island fire is on SRA 40 acres and 30% contained

CAL FIRE Agency Rep (AREP), AREP Trainee, and Finance Section Chief

should arrive on the Island around 0630 Tuesday.

Bitterwater Road and Bitterwater Valley Rd near the Kern & San Luis Obispo

County Line 12 miles SE of Shandon SRA Start Time: 1301 hours Fire burned

187 + acres in tall grass and is 100% contained.

Governor Brown Issues Proclamation Declaring "Wildfire Awareness Week"

SACRAMENTO - Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. today issued a proclamation

declaring May 1-7, 2011, as "Wildfire Awareness Week" in the State of California.

Needles Inc CA-BDC-11-21743 Vegetation Fire in vicinity of South of Jack Smith Park,

south of River Road and Reclamation Road; Needles, CA. Currently burned

between the railroad tracks and the Colorado River in a southerly direction in the

City of Needles and moving toward Bureau of Land Management property. 

Fires 300 acres holding at this time with 50% containment.  The forward rate of spread

was stopped and the fire is boxed in.  Full containment is expected, April 27, 2011

approx 1800 hrs. One abandoned building was destroyed; no other structures threatened at this time.

No evacuations planned at this time.  Rail service in the area is operating intermittently

due to the location of the fire.  Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway

Representatives are on scene working with Unified Command. 

County Fire Department and Bureau of Land Management remain in Unified Command.
