I started to say I couldn't believe it when I heard one of the media reps moaning and complaining about this, as if the safety of responders and civilians is less important than their stories. Then I corrected myself -- unfortunately their attitudes make me more steamed than surprised.

It keeps the newsies out of the way. And it makes things safer for all.
State law allows credentialed news people to go anywhere they want at a scene, unrestricted. But FAA is Federal law.
