| Notes: | On this morning in 2006 lightning strikes in San Bernardino County at the convergence of the eastern end of the San Bernardino Mountains with the Mojave Desert near Yucca Valley started the Sawtooth, Waters, and Ridge Fires which burnt together to form the Sawtooth Complex. In all this conflagration scorched 61,700 acres and destroyed 50 homes, 8 mobile homes, 13 garages, 171 outbuildings, 191 cars & pick up trucks, 3 R.V.s, 27 trailers, 2 railcars, 9 tractors destroyed while damaging 12 residences. In all 17 minor injuries resulted along with 1 civilian fatality in the destruction of Pioneertown. Five days later another round of lightning strikes in the vicinity would start the 24,000 acre Heart-Millard Complex which would be immediately merged into the Sawtooth Complex and managed as one incident although a geographically separate fire complex to the southwest. | |
