MONTEREY COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA... * UNTIL 300 PM PST. * LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE VICINITY OF THE SAN ANTONIO RIVER. * AT 1154 AM PST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN IS FALLING OVER THE WARNED AREA. THE RAINFALL HAS BEEN HEAVY ENOUGH TO PRODUCE FLOODING ALONG THE SAN ANTONIO RIVER. THE STREAM GAUGE NEAR LOCKWOOD ALONG THE RIVER INDICATES FLOODING BETWEEN NOON AND 3:00 P.M. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS. IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE MANY LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED ROADS. IT TAKES ONLY A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY. &&

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED... ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. NEVER DRIVE VEHICLES THROUGH FLOODED AREAS. THE WATER MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW FOR SAFE PASSAGE.
