| 08/10 | 1900 | Avalanche Fire: (37 39.794 x 119 42.238; 6,400'el. Mariposa Co.) This lightning caused fire was found on the afternoon of July 31, 2011. The fire remains at 404 acres. The fire could potentially grow to 5,800 acres. Firefighters are igniting fuels (firing) along spur ridges to bring a backing fire towards Glacier Point Road. The operation will increase the acres and amount of visible smoke. Firefighters remain on scene through nighttime hours to insure holding the fire to the east of Glacier Point Road. The fire is within the park's Wilderness boundary and will be managed for multiple objectives. The fire is creeping and smoldering through duff and other surface fuels |
| 08/10 | 1900 | The Lion fire growth was 109 acres today for a total of 20,330 acres. The fire has burned down to Alpine Creek and no further spread is expected in that area. Mapped the fire growth by helicopter in Sequoia National Park near Soda Butte and it was approximately 100 acres of growth since the last mapping. |
| 08/10 | 0800 | Avalanche CA-YNP-2558 7 Miles Southwest of Yosemite Valley in Mariposa County Fire has burned 404 acres. This fire is a lightning caused fire being managed for multiple objectives in Yosemite Wilderness. Ground resources continue to monitor fire behavior, patrol area and implement holding actions along Glacier Point and Badger Pass roads. |
| 08/10 | 0800 | The Lion fire grew 55 acres yesterday for a total of 20,221 acres. There is a small area along Alpine Creek that should burn and fill-in the box at the containment lines. |
