Are you referring to the La Brea Fire from August 2009?

I remember sometime back in the 2000's there being a brush fire on the Los Padres National Forest in the Santa Barbara County Backcountry which was caused by the ground itself being so hot that it combusted duff or grass or whatever and started the fire that got fairly decently-sized. I cannot remember the name of the incident nor did I ever hear what the final verdict was on the source of that in-ground heat. Now it seems something similar has happened again but this time on the south side of the Santa Ynez Range in Hope Ranch. Does anybody here know any more details about that other fire a few years ago? Was the cause then what is mentioned in this article about this new fire or was it something else like a burning coal seem or other? Is the incident in 2006 mentioned in this article the one to which I refer? Any information from any informed individuals here would be greatly appreciated.

Hope Ranch - An unsolved mystery is smoldering on a dirt hillside below Hope Ranch. Smoke and steam are coming out of the soil, very similar to an event in October of 2006. Geologists have said a landslide five years ago may have opened up a crack in the bluff. That may have added oxygen to an underground super heated tar site.
The hot zone is being controlled with sprinklers spraying waters in all directions.
A fence is up in the area to keep inquisitive beach walkers away.
Santa Barbara County Fire officials say there is no immediate threat to the area or risk to the public.
Senior Reporter John Palminteri has the story.
