I think you mis-typed on Centralia: Over 40 years. In fact, closer to 50
now.

And btw, it's the former Centralia: PA disincorporated the town and
condemned all the houses, and the USPS cancelled the P.O., because of the
unsafe gas emissions.

I mentioned this a few months ago in the thread about "the danger" of
nuclear power plants.

Odd thing to happen. Makes me think of underground coal seam fires that are
fairly common and can burn for years underground. The one in Centralia PA
has been burning for over 4 years. China has a lot of underground fires, in
the hundreds I think.
