  • The State of Washington's State-Local Tsunami Workgroup engaged in a table top exercise using the PACIFEX 12 scenario developed by the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center. This scenario simulates a magnitude 9.2 earthquake that occurs approximately 70 miles east of Kodiak City, Alaska. The earthquake triggers a major tsunami that will begin impacting the shoreline of Washington State within 3 hours. The scenario is available at:
Members of this workgroup include Pacific, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, and Clallam Counties; the Shoalwater Bay, Hoh, Quileute, Quinault, Makah, and Lower Elwha Tribes; Washington State Agencies of Emergency Management, Natural Resources, State Patrol, and Transportation; Federal Partners including FEMA, NOAA, USGS and Congressional Staff Members.
