things have slowed down on this fire per scanner , per KVTA news - here is what they had to say
Updated AT 12:50 AM--Firefighters say they've stopped the forward progression of what's being called the "Lilac" fire near Simi Valley. The fire has burned around 10 acres since breaking out around 10:23 PM Christmas night near Lilac Lane and Santa Susana Pass Road south of the 118 freeway between Simi Valley and the San Fernando Valley. Fire crews from Ventura and Los Angeles counties poured into the area to protect structures along Lilac Lane. So far firefighters have been successful in protecting those homes and firefighters say the fire is holding to its original ten acre foot print. It is not growing despite gusty winds, heavy dry brush, and humidity levels in the teens. Crews meanwhile are setting up in Box Canyon to protect structures should the fire get that far. But right now they do not think it will. Very positive talk coming from the command post about their efforts to stop this fire from becoming any bigger. No homes have been damaged. No one is hurt. No evacuations have been ordered. Residents along Lilac Lane were told to shelter in place. Cause of the fire is under investigation. Santa Susana Pass Road is closed, as is Rocky Peak Road. The 118 freeway is open but motorists are advised to avoid the area if they can. The off ramps at Rocky Peak are also closed. Water dropping helicopters, hand crews, and dozens of engine companies are battling the fire. Winds in the area have been out of the northeast with gusts up to 20 mph and humidity down to 10 percent.
also vcscanner - says the winds are expected to increase at 3am, and helicopters are still dropping water on the fire
i am going to shut down for now , will try to be awake again by 3am to see whats happening if any,, if not will catch
this fire in the morning,, in the mean time rest easy

Winds have been pretty strong here all day in Northridge, but seem to have let up just a bit tonight. No wind at all in Santa Clarita. Just came back over the grade.
