[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (June 27)



2010: Bakersfield reached 100° F or above for the first time this year; this is the 6th latest calendar date for this to occur in the year (actually it is tied with this date in 1937).

2006:
A severe thunderstorm dropped nickel size hail (0.88" diameter) in Yosemite National park north of the Lodge.

1990: An intense Sundowner Wind event descended upon the Santa Barbara area bringing the mercury at one location to 109° F and driving the Painted Cave Fire from a start near the top of San Marcos Pass all the way down into the City of Santa Barbara and jumping the 101 Freeway. In all, 640 structures were lost. 

1990: The minimum temperature was 62° F in Big Bear Lake, the highest minimum temperature on record.

1976: Redwood City had a high temperature of 104
° F.

1970: Tahoe City recorded 1.09" of precipitation.

1952: Lodgepole (Southern Sierra) received 0.2" of snow pushing the seasonal snowfall to 522.9", making it the snowiest winter on record.
This is also the latest in the season snow has fallen here.

1929: Susanville's high temperature was 102° F.

1926: The minimum temperature was 97° F in Palm Springs, the highest minimum temperature on record.
