Re: [californiadisasters] Electromagnetic Pulse: Effects on the U.S. Power Grid

Granted, Forstchen's talks about a terrorism scenario with multiple nuke air bursts over different parts of the country (remember the 'missile launch' off of the west coast last fall?) but as Kim points out, it could be a natural cause like a large CME... It doesn't sound like the system would withstand any large hit.

The real threat is another 1859 Carrington Event.
We had a rather close call earlier this year.
Or was it late last year?
The huge CME just missed us.

Not a plausible scenario on a wide scale. Wide scale EMP as in all of the US would need multiple high altitude burst. We wrote these NLT Exercises in the 1990's and were crucified by the EMP experts. Terrorists might EMP say Atlanta but not take out the UES overall.

Rouge Nation with a real ICBM capablity well why do you think we don't want Iran etc. having Nukes.

Read the book "One Second After" by William Forstchen... A fictional account of
this being done to the US in a terrorist attack. It's available through Ama
