Getty Fire occurred in Los Angeles basin in the area of Sepulveda Pass near the 405 Freeway at Getty Center Drive on Friday. The Fire initially burned an estimated 40 acres in medium Brush and grass. Hot temperatures and very dry conditions hampered firefighters. Sepulveda Boulevard was shut down in both directions. The Getty Center was closed voluntarily for the day due to the fire and smoke. No structures were damaged or destroyed and no evacuations have been ordered. The 405 Freeway remained open. Five helicopters made water drops, assisting ground resources. Two Super scoopers on contract with Los Angeles County were also used to make drops on the fire. |
