[californiadisasters] New evacuations ordered for Bully Fire

New evacuations ordered for Bully Fire

Fire crews on the ground and in the air are continuing to battle the Bully Fire in the Igo-Ono area.

The size of the blaze has grown to 4,400 acres and the containment is now at 15%.

On Monday morning Cal Fire issued a new set of evacuations to residents of Big Foot Road from Platinia Road to Wilson Creek. The CHP has a new road closure in effect for Platina Road between Highway 36 and Big Foot Road.

An evacuation shelter has been set up at Ono Elementary School at 6429 Placer Street.

Cal Fire attributes hot dry conditions, steep terrain and limited access as their challenges. The fire has now damaged eight structures and completely destroyed one.
Cal Fire law enforcement officers arrested 37 year old Freddie Alexander Smoke III for allegedly starting the fire.

The Sacramento man was operating a large rental truck to deliver soil amendments to an illegal marijuana grow site in the area of Roaring Creek Road and Sargent Road.

So far 55 Fire crews, 93 Fire Engines, 14 Water Tenders, 30 Bulldozers, eight Helicopters and four Air Tankers are working to contain the fire for a total of 1,804 personnel.

Residents should remain cautious of the fire personnel and equipment working in the area.

Taking all of the progress that has been made into consideration, as well as fire conditions and weather patterns, their estimated date of full containment is July 18, 2014.
