Re: [californiadisasters] Veg Fire: AEU Sand Inc; Plymouth

If you factor in the turn around time (time back to base, reload time, time to scene), it's easy to figure out that you can NEVER have enough consumable resources (water, tanker slury).  So the 'standard' ordering 'policy' is "Order BIG, order SOON" because by the time you need it, you're behind the curve if you didn't.

Two air tankers diverted to new fires... order modified to the closest FIVE air tankers.

Translation: It's going to s_it now, get some aircraft NOW!

No VLAT available, order for three Type 1 tankers in place, no ETA.

New request: 3 closest air tankers IN ADDITION to the Type 1 order.

Translation:  If we don't hit this hard NOW, we lose.  Get me some bleeding air tankers NOW.

Of the major three networks in Sac, only one has a copter (KCRA 3 NBC).  The CBS station hasn't seen the need for the expense and they're the number one news station.

This is just deep enough in canyons that they'll have to use satellite to link home, which is costly so won't happen until nearer to news time (about an hour).

Being in the boonies has advantages, but this isn't one of them.

Div M + O (dunno where they are) are not doing well, fire is well established in a n/s drainage, creating a second head.

VLAT making drops now...  making a new division R, incoming structure defense strike teams inbound

It's the boonies, not the market share zone...
