And NOT during high wind and/or red flag warnings as much of the SW just had (the DUH factor).  Metal blade to a rock or lack or lack of adequate spark arrestor?

It seems that no sooner had I posted the below comment than an 856-acre fire broke out near Fontana yesterday as a result of somebody mowing grass with a rotary mower.

This brings us to the topic of when one should do such mowing....early in the morning when moisture levels in the fuel and  atmosphere are higher and temperature levels in the fuel and atmosphere are lower.
