SENIORS: Today is the day! The Senior Picnic begins at 5:30pm. There will be a delicious barbecue dinner from Rudy's; a ferocious Dodgeball tournament; drawings for 14 gift cards from stores like Old Navy, Kohl's, and Target and restaurants like Chili's, Subway and Cold Stone Creamery; a bungee run; a superslide; and yearbooks will be distributed to Seniors, too. Don't be late, we'll see you outside the gym at 5:30 this afternoon.
DODGEBALL TEAMS: Be ready to play at 6:15 tonight. A not-so-great prize awaits the winning team!
Do you want something fun to do this summer? Do you need community service for clubs or scholarship applications? Find out about summer volunteer opportunities at the Albuquerque Biopark which includes the zoo, aquarium, botanic gardens, and Tingley Beach. Information will be given on Friday, April 30 at lunch in Ms. Paceâs room (A201).
Students summer school registration has begun. If you are in need of credit recovery, please see your counselor for registration packets.
Tryout for the Talons Dance Team! Tryouts will be held after school Tuesday May 11 through Friday May 14. Tryout packets are available in the main office.
Attention all boys interested in playing soccer for Volcano Vista next year. There will be a meeting on May 6 â"Thursday â" at lunch in room A130.
Overdue and fine notices went out during second period yesterday. Over 400 students have overdue books...some from August and September! Let's get everything turned in and paid for so you won't have an extra hour or two at registration next fall.

The Film Club will be taking orders at the Senior Picnic on set for Monday, May 3rd at 5:30pm.
Cash and checks welcome. Checks need to be written to Volcano Vista High School.

Seniors if you have received any scholarships please stop by your academy office and fill out the scholarship form so that we may add it to the program for the Honors Assembly.
Yearbooks will be distributed this afternoon to seniors at their picnic. Be sure you bring your school ID to pick up your book.
Underclassmen you will be able to pick up your books on Tuesday during lunch in the ROTC room.
Seniors remember all library books, textbooks, fines, lab fees and CNM textbooks MUST be turned in before receiving your cap and gown. You may return any textbooks you are not using ASAP.
Anyone who has not purchased a book may buy one at lunch on Tuesday for $70.00.

Athletics:
"The girl's tennis team finished its season this weekend at the District tournament at Academy. Advancing to the second round were Adrienne Templeton and Jessica Frias and the doubles team of Alyssa Arce and Lauren Mares. Adrienne also advanced to the semifinals and fought bravely despite playing with an illness.
Attention all girls tennis players -- please plan to turn your uniforms in after school on Tuesday. Bring your racquet as well -- we will play a fun mixed doubles tournament with the varsity boys."
Girls track uniforms are also due! Coach Valencia will have a meeting with everyone today during the normal practice time to announce who is going to state this weekend.
The softball team beat Grants 11 to 0 on Saturday. Katera Eltsosie struck out 10 batters and she and Alex Marquez hit home runs. The softball team's record is 22 wins and 3 losses. Their last home game is this Wednesday at 4 pm. Come out to the field and cheer the girls on.
Congrats to Ravi Shah of the Hawks Tennis team for making it to state tennis. He will be playing his first round Wednesday night at Jerry Cline tennis complex at 8 pm.
Way to go Hawks tennis for a great season, with a record of 8-3.
