On This Date In California Weather History....

2005: From the 21st through the 23rd, a storm system brought over 2 feet of snow to higher elevations of the southern Sierra Nevada.
Tenaya Lake received 44" of snow, 42" fell at Upper Burnt Corral and Paradise Meadow got 39".

1995: 44.0 inches of snow fell at Sierraville, with 32.0 inches at Tahoe City.

1992: A series of storms that started on 3.20 and ended on this day brought one to five inches of rainfall and local flooding.

1964: A big snow storm that started on 3.22 ended on 3.24.
29 inches fell in Idyllwild, of which 22 inches fell on 3.24 alone, 26 inches fell at Lake Arrowhead, 23 inches at Palomar Mountain, and 18 inches at Big Bear Lake.

1959: A "small tornado" (not rated) near Fresno uprooted trees.

1929: Measurable snow falls in Fresno, 0.2" recorded, tied with the event of 1916 for the latest date measurable snow has ever fallen in Fresno.

1929: 12.0 inches of snow fell at Carson City, NV.

1916: Intense late-season storm: Fresno received 0.1" of snow, the latest in the season measurable snow has fallen here.
In addition, Fresno had sustained winds of 54 mph from the northwest, the highest sustained winds on record here for any month.

1907: 26.0 inches of snow fell at Susanville.

1893: Heavy rain around San Bernardino washed out railroads and a bridge in town.
