[californiadisasters] South Ops News & Notes Update (08/18/11-8:30AM)

08/18	0830	RELIZ (CA-BEU-002787) Incident is in Unified Command CALFIRE BEU and the Los Padres NF(Carriero/Zabrowski) Fire 214 acres, 75% contained. Fire is holding within containment lines no additional fire movement is anticipated continuing with Mop-up, Patrol and improvement of existing fire line.
08/18	0830	Avalanche Fire (CA-YNP-2558) Park and fire mangers have made the decision to contain the fire to 1,075 acres.  It is contained within the confines of Glacier Point, Wawona, and Old Glacier Point Roads.  The decision to contain the fire was made for several reasons including: Weather poor smoke dispersal, public and firefighter safety from anticipated increased traffic due to upcoming holiday. Firefighters are in the process of securing the perimeter by "mopping up" or extinguishing logs, stumps, etc. that are burning along the fire's edge. This fire now adds over 1000 additional defensible fire buffer acres to these communities.
