08/22 | 2030 | A flurry of afternoon fire activity in Southern California brought two noticeable fires to the Cajon Pass in the San Bernardino National Forest (BDF), and one fire to Riverside County (RRU).
Of the two fires in BDF, the larger, the Ken Fire (CA-BDF-12349), burned northeast from the vicinity of Kenwood Avenue and Interstate-15. It burned into the Matthews Ranch and onto the western shoulder of Cajon Mountain. No 209 report is yet available, but the preliminary estimate is 300 acres with no estimate given of containment, although the fire is, at this time, laying down.
The Garza Fire (CA-RRU-77036), located in Perris, burned onto the Mott Rimrock Preserve. The latest 209 report states 125 acres burned and containment of 40% this evening. |
