Geologists Explore Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

By Mark Dunphy - Wed Aug 17,

A group of geologists from the University of Iceland have concluded their exploration of Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which was responsible for the ash cloud crisis across much of northern and western Europe in 2010.

The main purpose was to study the effect the lava has had on the glacier and to measure the thickness of the lava to determine the amount of materials that the volcano spewed out during the eruption.
