Fire damages house, barn

A house and barn were damaged in a fire this afternoon north of Sonora.

The fire, on the 9400 block of Highway 49, near Rawhide Road, was reported at 12:47 p.m.

An elderly couple lived in the house, according to Cal Fire officials.

It's unclear if they were injured.

The fire started when a PG&E line snapped, according to Lisa Tracey, 42, of Sonora, whose barn, on a separate property, was burned.

Traffic was stopped on Highway 49.
